In Tanzania there are 2 million orphaned children, a staggering number. One million children have lost their parents to HIV- AIDS. Only one hundred thousand get help from tax supported agencies. In Arusha, in 2004 only 862 children (orphans) got support from the government the rest depended on the donor community i.e. ngos, churches, private donors e.t.c.
Francesca Aimone
and Jutta kassam are two women in Arusha who have put their time and energy  into this major problem. They have choosen to create their own organization, the purpose of this  to guarantee a future for some of these children. Two volunteers soon became Four , Four became Six, Six became ten. In December 2004 Malaika Children’s Home was born.

Malaika means Angel in Kiswahili.

Malaika's goals are to provide a comfortable and safe home, a place for smiles, a place to grow.
